From December 1, 2020, HiProMine S.A. implements the project: Development and real-life verification of innovative methods of slaughter, sterilization, drying and fat separation from Hermetia Illucens larvae, as a way to reduce the production costs of functional feed materials with increased quality parameters.
The project is co-financed from European Funds by the National Center for Research and Development, under Measure 1.1 “R&D projects of enterprises”, Sub-measure 1.1.1 “Industrial research and development works carried out by enterprises” of the Intelligent Development Operational Program.
Purpose of the project: The project aims to develop and test new process and equipment solutions in the area of slaughtering, sterilization, drying and fat separation from Hermetia Illucens larvae. The development of optimal process conditions for the above-mentioned stages of insect meal production and the creation of a pilot line ensuring the continuity of the stages and increased process efficiency will enable to achieve two main goals of the project, i.e.
The minimisation of the costs of these processes, thereby reducing the costs of manufacturing the final products marketed by the Applicant, i.e. insect meal and fat from Hermetia Illucens.
Significant improvement of the quality parameters of the final products, by ensuring a higher protein content, lower fat content and the increase of the antimicrobial activity of the meal, as well as the increase of the content of lauric acid in the obtained fat, which will allow them to be called functional feed materials and thus become a product the market is waiting for.
