From December 1, 2017, HiProMine S.A. implements the project: Valorization of By-Products of the Agricultural and Food Industry Using Insect-Based Technologies (EntoWaste). The project is co-financed by European Funds for the National Center for Research and Development as part of the 2nd ERA-Net-LAC competition: Latin America, Caribbean and European Union.
Purpose of the project: The main goal of the project is to develop a modular insect-based biorefinery technology for the efficient treatment of bio-waste from the agri-food industry. As part of the research, methods of processing waste for feeding insects, technologies of breeding and rearing insects as well as their processing for the needs of the food and feed industry will be developed.
Planned effects: The project will result in alternative low-cost solutions aimed at increasing the level of food and feed safety by producing high-quality protein based on the use of low-value by-products and waste from the food production and supply chain. The developed technologies will be optimized for implementation in European and Latin American countries, taking into account the specificity of local waste management systems, food distribution and the type of raw materials available in the form of waste.
